Thank you to Foodbuzz for their unending support and excitement for us food bloggers who just love to stuff our faces and write about it. Bravo for sending us to meet and eat 'Dinner for Breakfast' with the folks from Eggland's Best a few weeks ago on 4/21 @ the Beacon.
Mimosa in hand, I learned about the history and business of 'egg making' which was pretty interesting for me. I mean, I can't really hate on people who want to share with us, how much time and effort they put into making sure a product is safe and prepared properly. At the end of the night, they sent us home with gift bags that included, of course, 2 bags of one of their newest products, ready to eat, Hard-Cooked Eggland's Best Eggs!
Let me tell you, I had reservations at first. I remember looking at the bags on the cab ride home wondering...BUT, they really did come in handy when I couldn't think of anything to eat for dinner the next night. Very very convenient for making a great egg salad, especially since I was exhausted and wanted something ASAP!
Thanks Eggland's Best and Foodbuzz! Here are a few pics from breakfast I caught with my iPhone!
More than just eggs at 'Breakfast for Dinner'...Thanks to the Beacon Restaurant for the extras and the drinks!
Make my own omelette!
I'm taking Barcelona recommendations now, until I take off next week Wednesday!
Also, CONGRATULATIONS to FOODBUZZ for reaching their 1 MILLION POSTS MILESTONE! Looking forward to celebrating with you all -- and to 1 MILLION MORE POSTS TO COME!!

Village Voice Choice Eats
Favorites from the Village Voice Choice Eats, 3/31/09...
The event was crowded, lots of pushing and shoving and lots of eating and drinking. Vidya and I stuck to the plan of trying to get as much food as possible before restaurants ran out. At some points, it was so crowded she had to go her way, and I had to go mine. If there were 200 less people, it would have been my favorite event. Until next year!
Pinche Taqueria...
Pulled pork bbq and grits from The Smoke Joint
Pam Real Thai (they gave healthy portions which a big deal!)

Chicken Joy!-Welcome to Woodside Jollibee!

(photos courtesy of Serious Eats NY correspondent, Joe DiStefano)
The most popular Filipino fast food chain (both in the Philippines and in the US) made its East Coast debut with their soft opening on V-day, 2/14 in Manilatown aka Woodside, Queens.
I didn't get a chance to go, and honestly, want to keep away from the madness until things calm down a bit in a few weeks, but here's a photo from Ry, who caught this picture of the the madness from his car.
Have you gone yet? Let me know! More to come as soon as I make my way!!!

Divvies - Made to Share and Made Without Peanuts, Tree Nuts, Eggs & Milk
I just had to spread the word about this company, Divvies, a mail order specialty food and snack company owned by a couple from Salem, NY. A box of treats showed up at work and I of course dug in and was all over it, not even realizing how unique the products were. I was truly impressed. I'm not allergic to peanuts, tree nuts, eggs or milk, but do sympathize with those (approx. 12 million Americans) who are and who HAVE to turn down traditionally baked cookies, candy, chocolate and other snack foods because of their food allergies.
I tried the hearts 4 U! - which for me are comparable to Sour Patch kids candy.
The Bingo Bar tasted like a good quality dark chocolate bar and I couldn't tell the difference between this and a regular dark chocolate bar made with the said ingredients.
Surprisingly, I really really liked their Vegan Ginger Molasses cookies. No chocolate, but still, they were chewy, not too sweet and were perfect for my 3 pm pick-me-up @ work.
There's so much more to this company, so go here: SHARING MEANS CARING!
