I'm so behind! The beloved Chinatown bakery that broke our our hearts back in April from being shut down by the DOH has reopened. According to Eater, the newly named, Mei Li Wah Bakery, officially had their grand opening on 8/8/08 (which I believe means luck luck luck!) with a renovated and updated interior.
Per Eater's in depth assessment in the days leading up to the grand reopening, the same counter workers have returned, as well as the head chef, which is very heart warming. Great news all around.
